I am graphic and motion designer with expertise in art direction, motion, print and digital media. These skills and talents have lead me through an amazing professional journey. I am the Creative Director of Design and Creative Marketing at the cable broadcast network formerly known as WGN America, recently rebranded as NewsNation. I head up the design department where we create broadcast branding, promos on-air graphics and studio graphics for all of our original programming.
I began my career as a motion and graphic designer in commercial post production where I worked for the top post production houses in Chicago such as Swell and Avenue Edit. Along the way I created broadcast work for news graphics and other commercial advertising spots. I then spent six years art directing and leading a motion design department creating live experiences for corporate clients before moving back to broadcast work at WGN America.
In addition to my commercial work, I am an educator and mentor. I teach motion design and visual effects at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Over the course of my 20 years of education experience, I have designed curriculum for classes in typography, image manipulation and motion design at SAIC, Columbia College and The Illinois Institute of Art-Chicago.
Outside of my design and education career, I specialize in painting and wedding portraits. I love the live experience of painting at a wedding to capture the uniqueness of the couple. For my personal practice I explore figurative painting and drawing. I often incorporate my expertise and talents in motion design and animation with figurative work. My pieces have been shown at several art shows and events in Chicago.
I was born in Mexico City, grew up in the Chicago suburbs and have lived in Chicago most of my adult life.
