My latest work from broadcast and experiential industries
This image promo was a dream project to art direct! We worked with MinusL productions who did an amazing job with the production of the piece. We shot at Resolution Studios, Chicago. Mocean worked with us on the beautiful graphic pieces. And our talented anchors brought the sizzle. Written and directed by Ryan Johnson and Dan Brown.
This was so much fun art directing this promo for NewsNation! Ryan Johnson and Dan Brown wrote and creative directed the promo and Black Book Studio did the stunning 3D work. Additional artwork designed by me.
This video shows the branding and show package looks for NewsNation’s new morning show, Morning In America. I art directed and lead my team of designers and animators to create this bright and happy brand look intended to set a positive tone to start the viewers day while taking in the news content. I art directed and oversaw the production of all branding, on air graphics templates, monitor loops in the studio monitors, opens, wipes, franchise segment designs, lower third banner design, bugs, snipes, mogrts, social media packages and advertising billboard graphics for this terrific new show. I interfaced with our executives for pitch presentations and concept strategy. I participated in rehearsal and tweaking of all on-air design deliverables in collaboration with the show directors and executives. This video is shot from my TV screen so you can see all the package as a viewer would.
I art directed this digital media package for use across all platforms. The look is based on our NewsNation Brand refresh initiative that I lead and implemented with our Creative Marketing Team.
Dan Abrams Live marks my NewsNation design team and my 9th live show graphics package design and launch in a year and one month! The look of this show was based on Dan Abram's interest in Comic design mixed with traditional journalism. So this design solution, using half screen dot patters on parchment with a camera tilt shift, is an effective approach to set the tone for Dan's No Holds Barred approach to journalism. I art directed the graphics package and monitor fills in collaboration with our talented designer an animator, Lexi Midkiff. Additional design and animation was done by Jay Spiwak and Katrina Nilles. Music by Stephen Arnold music. I shot this video off my screen to get the full viewer experience:-)
This is out branded look for our 4pm CST Rush Hour show on NewsNation! I designed the logo and art directed the look for on air and in the studio. The entire graphics package is anchored on this look.

NewsNation on-set and on-air graphics package. I had the pleasure to art direct and overseeing the entire launch of NewsNation and the launching of 3 original shows. This was a huge collaboration with our entire talented Design Team.
This reel is a compilation from my work as an art director and animator in broadcast design and experiential industries. I designed and animated the majority of the pieces you see. I art directed several pieces in collaboration with talented designers and motion designers from the teams that I have the privilege of leading.
For the launch of NewsNation’s original talk format show, Banfield, featuring Ashleigh Banfield, our team created this intimate promo that I had the pleasure of art directing.
Art direction, title and show brand design, motion design
This was a great collaboration with my motion design team to open our Wilson Dow professional development day called Summerfest. Each of us designed and animated different scenes with the goal of creating the look and feel of a festival. We had the help of our company production assistants and interns to model for a few of our scenes which I rotoscoped. We had the opportunity to explore many different animation and design techniques. We just had a blast working on it! On the day of our company Summerfest, many of our scenes were incorporated into AR experiences!

I made this logo animation using old school rotoscoping techniques. I first created the initial animation of my coworkers and I "writing" on the letters in AfterEffects using Particular. Then I exported this animation as a jpg sequence and printed out every frame on paper. From there I used a light table, plain paper and watercolors to paint over each frame. I also painted additional splats and transitions. Then I took all the painted sheets of paper and scanned them back into the computer. Imported these as jpg sequence and composited them and synched it to music. I love painting so this was a joy to work on!

I loved art directing this animation that brings to life the Wislon Dow mission and highlights the new brand look. Collaborating with star animator Robert Burns on this project was a dream.
This is an animated intro that was projected to multiple screens for a live event. It was inspired by the Apple commercials. I animated and designed everything in After Effects. The sound design was done by ID Music.
I made this stop motion animation with the talented Maria Aiura (videographer) to announce WDG's employee summer camp event. With the help of our interns, Will Fine and Kyle O'Connell we used traditional stop motion techniques to bring these scenes to life. I also used a little After Effects magic to pull it all together.
I created this for my company end of year reel based on the first True Detective title sequence by Elastic. I used the double exposure technique to highlight a few of Wilson Dow Group's creative directors. I studied all the shots from the original and recreated each shot as faithfully as I could. I had each of the creative directors pose for me in front a green screen but I did not tell them the purpose of their contemplative and also explosive modeling so they were surprised by the outcome when unveiled at our company viewing. Jonathan Sladek shot the green screen plates. I shot all the live video footage of the south loop area of Chicago near my office with my iphone6 in 4k. I designed and animated the entire piece using Photoshop and After Effects with some Red Giant plug ins. Soundtrack is from the original title sequence: Far From Any Road by The Handsome Family
My team and I had so much fun reinterpreting our logo to reflect our favorite inspiration from the motion graphics/pop culture/design movement genres. Can you guess all the references? Each member of our team designed and animated a different piece based on what they love. Spoiler: I did the Monty Python and MTV and stop motion ones:-)
Logo animation I created in AfterEffects.
Having fun with painterly rotoscoping and painted text/transition effects for an internal project.
Fun collaboration with Maria Aiura to create another stop motion animation announcing Wilson Dow Group's internal staff Winter Break Camp. We shot most of the scenes on green screen and I composited and added some special sauce in After Effects.
I teamed up with videographer, Maira Aiura, to create this stop motion animation to celebrate the best work day and candy! We shot this frame by frame with the help of light room and then I did a lot of post After Effects magic (including the manicure).
My homage to Monty Python/Terry Gilliam cut-out animation. I made this for an intro for my company's year end demo reel. I created all the artwork and animation so that it looked and moved just like the opening title sequence to Monty Python's Flying Circus. The vintage faces are Mark Dow and Steve Wilson, the founders and owners of Wilson Dow Group. I used Illustrator, Photoshop and After Effects as well and several Red Giant plug ins.
My colleagues, Myles Hundley, Robert Burns and John Gallgher I made this for end of year show and tell meeting at Wilson Dow group as an intro for our demo reel. We had a blast collaborating on the VFX and titles. Myles came up with the story (which has some company inside jokes) and did all the VFX 3D work, John Gallagher shot it with his new OSMO camera, Robert and I and Myles did the roto, VFX compositing and tracking and titles, as well as sound. And I did my own stunt work. We used Video Copilot Action essentials and Red Giant Looks.
I designed and animated the intro and end tags for Martyrs' monthly storytelling event. This is a companion piece to the poster which I also designed.
I designed and animated the titles. My paintings were part of the show and that is me being the spokesperson for this video shot and edited by Karen Carter.
Loto animation I designed and animated for a corporate video. First time using Video CoPilot's Sabre plug-in.
I designed and animated this promo for Chicago Ideas Week
A series of spots I worked on for Adelstein Liston using Photoshop and AfterEffects.
Branding for yoga mat
B-card front and back
Stationary system
I designed the poster and the logo for this yearly event.
Logo design for fundraising event at Bell School in Chicago
I designed the logo and the branding identity for this live storytelling series.
A wedding day is one of utmost beauty and joy. The custom portraits I paint capture the transformative essence of what is unique for each couple. Creating the painting live during a cocktail hour or reception creates an unparalleled experience for your guests.
